Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an experienced Principal/Senior Principal Software Analyst to join the team in Linthicum, Maryland.

A Systems Software Analyst:

  • Analyzes, enhances, installs, tests and modifies enterprise-wide operating systems for both new and existing systems

  • Develops requirements, workflows, and system analyses

  • Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities

  • Establishes standards for development and maintenance of new and existing products

The candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Participate in project planning processes

  • May identify technical requirements

  • May create technical design specifications and assists in sizing technical requirements

  • Code applications or enterprise wide software systems using a disciplined development process

  • Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand project objectives, gather automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable automation solutions

  • Define and implement efficient end-to-end provisioning of automation solutions

  • Conduct proof of concepts to demo new ideas and help solidify technical direction

  • Maintain and improve effective partnerships with the Build, Operations, and Engineering teams to drive service improvement

  • Remain current on IT trends pertaining to their area of practice (e.g. Agile, Dev*Ops, cloud, micro-services, and containers)

  • Ensure the adherence to standards, policies and procedures

  • Check for compliance with all standards, policies and procedures

  • Perform code reviews

  • Contribute to and review deployment plans and may schedule the installation of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment

  • Identify and automate process and procedures for on-premise and cloud solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science or 3 Years with Masters or 0 Years with PhD

  • Senior Principle: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science or 7 Years with Masters or 4 Years with PhD

  • Active TS/SCI clearance and willing to sit for a polygraph

  • Experience with variety of programming/scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and bash

  • Experience designing, developing, testing, validating, and maintaining solutions in the AWS Cloud Platform and VMWare ESXI/vSphere

  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform

  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, Routing, and Firewalls

  • Familiarity with Network Attached Storage (NAS) implementations such as NFS, Oracle and NetApp

  • Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux administration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

  • Experience with Jenkins/Gitlab CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience with containerized application development, specifically using Docker/Kubernetes

  • Infrastructure design/architecture experience

  • Familiarity with Apache NiFi

  • Experience using software version control such as Git (GitLab or BitBucket).

  • Experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket)


Salary Range: $96,900 USD - $145,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $120,000 USD - $180,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
