Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manager for the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE) group in Linthicum, Maryland. The candidate will lead teams of Systems Engineers who use Object Oriented Systems Engineering Method (OOSEM) and Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches to understanding Concept Definition, CONOPS development, requirements definition and allocation, system and product definition, component (HW and SW) design and implementation, integration & test, verification, validation, and operations and sustainment.

It is anticipated that the split between functional and program duties will be approximately 80/20, on average.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing personnel in the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE) group reporting directly to the Mission and Systems Modeling and Analysis department

  • Responsible for development, implementing, and understanding modeling and simulation needs as a function of the systems engineering and mission engineering processes across the air, space, land, sea, and cyberspace domains.

  • Leverage Agile methods and DevOps principles to support programs in digital transformation

  • Provide guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives, and company policies

  • Employee mentoring and career development

  • Performance reviews and management

  • Compensation planning and managing department budgets

  • Ensuring adherence to standard system engineering processes

  • Systems engineering support to programs

  • Operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields.

  • U.S Citizenship with an active Secret DoD Clearance

  • 4 years of experience with systems engineering

  • 2 years of experience with management of technical teams

  • Experience with mentoring technical professionals and/or advising programs on the use of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience with identifying, establishing and maintaining customer relationships

  • Knowledge of Military Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with standing up a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment

  • Domain knowledge in RF sensors

  • Experience with DOORS and requirements/architecture linking

  • Experience with physics-based model or simulation development

  • Experience with Multidisciplinary Design Analysis Optimization (MDAO)

  • Experience working in an agile development environment

  • Experience with version control using e.g. Teamwork Cloud, SVN, GitHub

  • Active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance


Salary Range: $137,000 USD - $205,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
