Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Supplier Performance Management organization is seeking a Supplier Performance Management Manager 2 to lead our Drive for Excellence (DFX) team.  This position will be located in Baltimore, MD.

This SPM DFX leader will manage the activities of the Supplier DFX team, driving excellence in our suppliers’ performance in delivering zero-defects in support of NGMS programs.  This position involves managing the development and improvement of tools and templates to facilitate DFX deployment, evaluating current suppliers participating in Supplier DFX, selecting suppliers for DFX expansion and managing effective DFX training for NGMS SPM and GSC personnel.  The qualified candidate will have demonstrated success at implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives, as well as leading organizations at complex problem solving while achieving a high level of employee engagement. The position requires a solution-based orientation, unwavering ethics and values, and the ability to work with suppliers with poise and diplomacy while driving them towards performance excellence. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of complex problem solving through systematic applications of SixSigma/Lean tools and techniques.  The successful candidate must be able to perform an objective evaluation of information that results in effective communication, championing, and implementation of change with a diverse set of internal and external customers and suppliers.

The selected candidate will be able to work remotely a majority of the time, but will need to be able to come in to the Baltimore campus a few times a month/as needed.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for Supplier Drive for Excellence (DFX). Manages the day to day DFX execution, including managing Supplier DFX with existing suppliers, evaluating suppliers for DFX expansion, and managing DFX tools and processes to allow expansion of Supplier DFX across NGMS sectors.
  • Manages team of direct line reporting supplier quality engineers.
  • Champions a Continuous Improvement culture in our Supplier Performance Management activities.
  • Use a data-driven process to measure supplier quality performance, identify and lead continuous improvement activities, and lead Supplier DFX participation.
  • Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.
  • Evaluate industry best practices to identify appropriate initiative to implement within the SPM organization.
  • Promote the professional development of the SPM team and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear assignments, help employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, create an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and build a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, operations, manufacturing, supply chain or other related discipline.
  • 9+ years of experience (7+ years with a Master's Degree) in Program Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the program / product lifecycle in the areas of supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt certification with demonstrated performance with implementing Continuous Improvement projects that clearly identified root causes of defects and/or process variation, and successful implementation of corrective actions that eliminated root causes of defects and resulted in performance improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers in managing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace Industry experience as a Program Manager, Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Engineering Manager or Manufacturing Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and/or leading teams.
  • Demonstrated experience driving Continuous Improvement initiatives with critical suppliers.
  • Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical skills.
  • Current, active Secret clearance or above.

Salary Range: $124,600 USD - $186,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
