Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems (NGMS) sector is looking for a Manager, Programs Level 1 to support the Emerging Capabilities and Development, Innovation Programs organization/Operating Unit.  The department has responsibility for all innovation focused Internal Research & Development (IR&D) across the sector. The selected candidate will lead our SPARK Seedling program and work across our innovation team, SMEs, functional organizations, and innovators to oversee a portfolio of R&D projects that aim to deliver early proof of concept solutions to tomorrow’s most challenging technical problems.

The selected candidate will champion our employee driven, blue sky innovation program on behalf of the sector to mature technologies and concepts that expand our overall customer base, promote growth opportunities, and play active role in proposals, IRAD, and CRAD activities.  The candidate will also work closely with other facets of the innovation ecosystem including the University Research and Intellectual Property teams to identify technologies that may benefit from a collaboration. 

This position will be onsite and may be located at any major Mission Systems campus in San Diego, CA, Woodland Hills, CA, Rolling Meadows, IL, or the greater Baltimore area in MD.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, and business or related field with 5+ years demonstrating an ability to lead tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as the project or technical lead or Master's Degree in science, engineering, and business or related field with 3+ years of experience.
  • Ability to grasp broad technical approaches and connect technologies/applications with underlying synergies.
  • The ability to summarize program status and investments to brief leadership on progress against goals, objectives, and financial metrics.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to define and execute project scope, monitor performance, remove programmatic hurdles, and socialize results to generate interest.
  • The ability to manage communications with stakeholders through organized processes to ensure that program information is defined, collected, shared, understood, stored, and retrieved in a manner that effectively meets program and stakeholder needs.
  • The ability to define, document, analyze, trace, prioritize, and confirm requirements throughout the entire program life cycle.
  • Consistently makes time to seek and incorporate input from customers and understand their expectations. Demonstrates commitment and energy to meet customer needs. Builds strong relationships with strategic partners and key suppliers. Guides program team and support functions on how to take action to satisfy customer expectations.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad understanding of NGMS technology and product lines.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and tools (i.e. SAP) and analyzing budget data to gain insights on program performance.
  • Ability to manage programs with open and often undefined requirements.
  • Ability to obtain or current TS/SCI clearance.

Salary Range: $114,200 USD - $179,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
