The Advanced Technology Lab of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Physicists. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Transformational Technology Business Area. Transformational Technology is focused on developing state-of-the-art next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) and advanced computing technologies. Qualified Physicists will have experience with some of the following: - superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization - transport phenomena - solid-state qubit operation - microwave engineering - low-temperature experiments - quantum mechanics and quantum computing - RSFQ - superconducting fabrication and superconducting circuit design - measurement of superconducting circuits - digital logic design/development - superconducting electronics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline plus at least 9 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (US citizenship required for this)
  • Demonstrated track record of team leadership and technical execution on technical projects
  • Experience in one or more of the following: superconducting tunnel junction fabrication/characterization, transport phenomena, solid-state qubit operation, microwave engineering, low-temperature experiments, quantum mechanics, RSFQ, superconducting fabrication, superconducting circuit design, measurement of superconducting circuits, quantum computing, digital logic design/development, or superconducting electronics
  • An active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with decoherence mechanisms, physics based simulation, analog and digital electronics, computer simulations, dilution refrigerator operation desired 
  • Experience with RSFQ, memory, Cadence, mask layout, multilevel circuit design, design verification and superconducting fabrication desired
  • Familiarity with superconducting qubits, quantum computing, and classical computer science desired

Salary Range: $180,200 USD - $270,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
