At the heart of Defining Possible is our commitment to missions. In rapidly changing global security environments, Northrop Grumman brings informed insights and software-secure technology to enable strategic planning. We’re looking for innovators who can help us keep building on our wide portfolio of secure, affordable, integrated, and multi-domain systems and technologies that fuel those missions. By joining in our shared mission, we’ll support yours of expanding your personal network and developing skills, whether you are new to the field or an industry thought-leader. At Northrop Grumman, you’ll have the resources, support, and team to do some of the best work of your career. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Sensor Modeling Simulation & Analysis Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Linthicum/ Baltimore, MD campus.  This position requires ~100% on-site work and an ability to pass an enhanced security review. How You Will Make a Difference at Northrop Grumman As the lead developer of RF sensors for some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman is a world leader in advanced sensor systems and design. These include radars for air dominance platforms (such as the F-22, F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F-16), bomber and strike programs (such as B-1B), airborne / maritime / ground-based surveillance missions (E-3 AWACS, E-7 MESA, TPS-80 G/ATOR and UAV systems such as Global Hawk), as well as restricted programs and missions. Northrop Grumman has needs for Sensor Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) Developers on a major development program with a simulation-based system/software development, integration, and test and verification activities.  The program is a leader in digital transformation in the MS sector and Baltimore campus, leveraging a model-/simulation-based approach including DevOps principles and High Performance Computing.  Qualified candidates will have opportunities to accelerate the delivery of sensor capability to our customers through the development and use of advanced models and simulations of RF sensors and the interactions with the environment. Roles & Responsibilities The position involves Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) of advanced sensor systems using C++ object-oriented design, advanced data structures and test driven development. Additional experience developing with Python is desired for large scale data analytics, probability and statistics, including the application of design of experiment techniques for the evaluation of system performance. The position also includes the integration of MS&A with operational flight software, collecting and analyzing data from laboratory or flight tests, the verification and validation of simulation performance against flight test data, and formally verifying that the models meet specified requirements. The position requires high technical rigor required to produce publication quality reports which define the foundation for simulation credibility across all stakeholders and provide the artifacts to support formal simulation Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VVA). Candidates should be highly motivated developers who can work independently to develop software, design documentation and model V&V artifacts. The sensor systems, simulation software and workflow is fairly complex therefore strong problem solving skills are desired. Developers are encouraged to innovate to solve problems and identify improvements across MS&A products. The role is multidisciplinary in nature and provides tremendous technical growth opportunities. Key Traits for Success in this Role:
  • A desire to apply a multi-disciplinary approach to problems
  • Independence and a sense of ownership of one’s work
  • Dedication to excellence in technical execution
  • A desire to learn and excel in software development (C++, python), sensor systems engineering, and technical writing.
KEY Words: MBSE , MDAO

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics with 5 years of related experience (see position summary) or (3 years related experience with a Master's Degree, 0 with a PhD).
  • Experience with object-oriented programming (C++) and python
  • Active or ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance prior to starting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Master's Degree including electives in radar signal processing
  • Experience in physics-based model or simulation development
  • Experience with real-time or reactive simulation/software development
  • Domain experience in sensor simulations for RF sensors
