Principal Paralegal

As a Principal Paralegal you will be working with in the European law department reporting to the European Legal director. Based in the London office with flexibility and Hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Carrying out company searches.
• Prepare and edit  legal documents, presentations, agendas, memos, letters, spreadsheets, and other business documents.
• Liaise with paralegals and lawyers based in the US
• Manage a small number of personal injury claims, liaising with insurers and outside lawyers as and when claims arise, dealing with these within the required deadlines
• Coordinating UK Subsidiary Board meetings reports, resolutions and meetings (see below for specific company secretarial skills).
• Efficient administration of legal contracts and other information.
• Assist the legal team in ensuring legal compliance in all areas of the Company’s operations.
• Carrying out legal research and drafting preliminary advice on a variety of topics and issues that arise in the day to day commercial operations of the business.
• Coordinating with other UK and USUS functions on relevant legal and contractual matters..
• Assisting with the management of the company’s property portfolio so some Real Estate experience useful.
• Drafting legal documentation using firm precedents such as agreements for lease, licenses, contracting-out documents and drafting various Land Registry forms
• Organising and administrating the various legal/commercial databases.
• Liaising with UK companies and outside agencies to ensure that annual accounts are filed on time.
• Organising and preparing agendas and papers for board meetings, committees, taking minutes and following up on matters arising from these meetings.

Qualification and experience required:

• Degree in Law (or GDL) is preferred
• Be a paralegal or legal executive with a number of years experience in either a law firm or an in-house environment.
• Demonstrable experience of handling company secretarial work.
• Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, particularly the UK Companies Act 1985 and 2006 and knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices.
• Experience of writing up and maintaining statutory registers and making statutory filings.
• Experience in dealing with a small amount of personal injury claims would be useful, training will be given.
• Confident and self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
• Possess a high level of competence with IT systems, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
