Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services organization is seeking an Application Engineer to support engineering tools for the electrical engineering departments at Space Park in Redondo Beach, Ca. The position will deploy, support, customize and maintain the suite of commercial applications used by electrical engineering including Synopsys, Cadence and Mentor(Siemens EDA) tool suites, and other Electrical Design Tools tools.

The selected candidate will research, design, develop, and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. He/she will evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system. Documents testing and maintenance of system corrections.

 

Roles and Responsibilities include:

• End-user support of electrical engineering software

• Frequent interaction with  inter-organizational customers and suppliers

• Requirements definition and planning

• Server configuration

• Client S/W installation

• Documentation

• License management

• Troubleshooting SW and Environment issues.

This position can be peformed by either a level 2 or level 3 Application Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

  • Must have at least 2 years of relevant IT or Engineering professional experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 0 Years required with a relevant Master's degree

  • Familiarity with ASIC/FPGA, PCB, or Mixed Signal IC Design process, engineering application support, development and maintenance. Experience with desktop, client/server and web architecture, end-user support and incident resolution.

  • Basic knowledge of Linux environment

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant IT or Engineering professional experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.

  • Familiarity with ASIC/FPGA, PCB, or Mixed Signal IC Design process, engineering application support, development and maintenance. Experience with desktop, client/server and web architecture, end-user support and incident resolution.

  • Basic knowledge of Linux environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be from an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background having had experience in electrical design software tools, such as Synopsys, Cadence, or Mentor (Siemens-EDA) Suite

  • Working knowledge of the functions, processes, and capabilities in ASIC/FPGA, PCB or Mixed Signal IC Design and analysis applications such as Xpedition Designer/ DxDesigner, Synopsys Design Compiler, Xilinx Vivado, Cadence Virtuoso, Cadence Innovus, Ansys HFSS/EmSuite.

  • Software background either as a Designer or as an Administrator

  • Familiar with both Windows and Linux administration


Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
