Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for Director 2 - Program Execution Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.

As the Director you will support the Communication Systems Business Unit and will provide leadership, management, and vision to ensure performance and robust execution of development and production programs. You will direct strategic and operational initiatives to effectively grow the portfolio and ensure continued financial strength and operating efficiency.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overall cost, schedule and technical performance of programs in the portfolio

  • Management of multiple programs through design, development, procurement, integration, test, and delivery phases

  • Demonstrated communications and mentoring skills to lead highly successful technical teams that are addressing complex programmatic challenges

  • Oversight of suppliers and their technical issues, subcontract changes, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions

  • Identification of real-world financial, schedule, and/or technical opportunities and risks to program execution; Development/implementation of mitigation strategies and/or recovery plans

  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively present to customers, executive management and other stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and twelve (12) years of related experience with tenure in a comparable management position leading multi-disciplined organizations

  • Disciplined cost and schedule management experience gained from delivering results; Experience with Earned Value Management

  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders

  • Proven ability to lead a high performing team with evidence of being able to create an inclusive work environment that attracts, retain and inspire diverse and engaged teams

  • Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization

  • Active SCI clearance and/or an SSBI within the last five (5) years is required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret

  • Ability to Travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad program management and leadership experience

  • A demonstrated record of success in positions of increasing management responsibility and will be exceptional in leading engineering and manufacturing

  • Program management track record with the proven ability to deliver the systems on-time and on-budget while maintaining excellent quality standards

  • Conflict management and negotiation skills

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance


Salary Range: $237,800 USD - $356,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
