Join the Space revolution and make the impossible, possible. Northrop Grumman SSSD has an opening for a Director 2 – Communication Systems Products Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California as a part of our Space Park Campus.  As the Communication Systems products lead you will be responsible for all aspects of design, development, production, integration, test, delivery and verification of space communications hardware and software for Class A program activities.  This role reports directly to the Vice President of Communication Systems in Manhattan Beach, CA. The Communication Systems Products and Production Director responsibilities include:
  • Product and program execution (cost, schedule, technical, quality) for Class A space production hardware and software
  • Collaboration across a broad set of NG, customer and supplier stakeholders
  • Developing a pipeline of future performers and leaders into this special mission area
  • Support to broad external strategic initiatives (e.g. future Communications Payload requirements and architecture, R&D investments, capital investments, industry benchmarking)

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 10 years experience in IPT and/or program management supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
  • Experience in program execution and demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones
  • Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex programs comprised of engineering, business, contracts, law, supply chain, production and mission/quality assurance disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience leading classified program execution with development and implementation of complex OPSEC plans.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with SSBI within the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Current or previously held SAP clearance
  • SAP clearance in this specific PIDs, and a community of related PIDs
  • MS in STEM discipline or MBA from an accredited university
  • Proven experience delivering class A space communication hardware on-schedule in a multi-shipset production environment
  • Experience delivering and integrating special access communications products, or other products with high technical overlap
  • Demonstrated IPT leadership and record of meeting milestones of rapid execution of Class A national asset programs
  • Experience with subcontract negotiations, management, and issue resolution with difficult suppliers
  • Experience developing supplier mission assurance and quality standards for production environments
  • Experience optimizing space hardware production flow to meet fixed-price or schedule-incentivized contract environments
  • Experience with relationship management and development of demanding and highly capable customers with daily communication cycles.
  • Experience with multi-caveated special community communications
  • Leadership experience in new technology areas and effective change management
  • IPT and/or Project Management experience across multiple phases of program lifecycle
  • Excellent conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Experience with risk, issue, and opportunity management
  • Demonstrated ability to make tough decisions
