Are you ready to support our nation’s defense? Then put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman. Our Defense Systems Sector wants you to join our Team as a Machinist 2 or Machinist 3. This position is located in Lake Charles, LA.
You will become a part of our Logistics and Fabrication Solutions Operating Unit's Fabrication Center.
Your duties include:
Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as C.N.C. and manual lathes, C.N.C and manual mills and precision grinders to make parts from a variety of metals.
Understand mechanisms, tools, and machines to manufacture parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Follow blueprints, sketches, engineering specifications and verbal instructions to determine the sequence of operations, and method of setup for machining.
Use your knowledge of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as Swiss micrometers, dial indicators, calipers and standard micrometers.
Communicate with others on the team about dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds, measures, marks, dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
Fitting and assembling precision parts into mechanical equipment.
Differentiate material, parts, and equipment required for jobs given.
Personally monitor and verify the dimensions and finish of parts during machining process.
Keep work area neat and clean
Complete required paperwork accurately on a timely basis
This job typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent “on the job” training and experience.
Basic Qualifications:
This position may be hired at a level 2 or level 3.
1.
Machinist 2: A minimum of 2 yrs machinist experience and a High School diploma or equivalent.
Machinist 3: A minimum of 4 yrs machinist experience and a High School diploma or equivalent.
2. The ability to work with both Manual and CNC machines
3. Experience performing CNC milling, drilling, and boring operations in fast-paced manufacturing settings.
4. The ability to obtain a security clearance if the program requirements change.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Computer drafting knowledge with programs such as Solid Works.
2. C.N.C programing knowledge with Mastercam.
3. Proficient with Haas and Mazak controls.
4. A current Security Clearance.
