Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) Department.

 

How You Will Make a Difference at Northrop Grumman:

 

As the lead developer of RF sensors for some of the most advanced systems in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman is a world leader in advanced sensor systems and design. These include radars for air dominance platforms (such as the F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16), bomber and strike programs (such as B-1B), airborne / maritime / ground-based surveillance missions (AWACS, MESA, G/ATOR and UAV systems such as Global Hawk), as well as restricted programs and missions.

 

Northrop Grumman has needs for Systems Engineers on a team of Model-Based Systems Engineering Experts. They will be responsible for development, implementing, and understanding modeling and simulation needs as a function of the systems engineering and mission engineering processes across the air, space, land, sea, and cyberspace domains. Systems Engineers on this team will use Object Oriented Systems Engineering Method (OOSEM) and Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to understanding Concept Definition, CONOPS development, requirements definition and allocation, system and product definition, component (HW and SW) design and implementation, integration & test, verification, validation, and operations and sustainment. The organization and programs supported are leaders in digital transformation in the MS sector and Baltimore campus, also leveraging agile methods and Dev*Ops principles.

 

Qualified candidates will have opportunities to accelerate the delivery of sensor capability to our customers through the use of advanced MBSE and agile systems engineering methods. The role is multidisciplinary in nature and provides tremendous technical growth opportunities.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Your responsibilities may include any of the following:

-       System concept development

-       Elicitation and specification of functional requirements, and decomposition and traceability of those requirements

-       Performance analysis and specification

-       Architecture Trade Studies

-       Synthesize and extend architectures

-       Allocate functionality to components

-       Definition of interfaces, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)

-       Detailed Design Analysis; May also involve test design

-       Use modern model-based systems engineering approaches that make extensive use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) skills; integrate M&S analysis models with descriptive models

-       Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals

-       Mentor and direct junior staff efforts to meet program deadlines

-       Communicate technical capabilities and analyses with internal stakeholders and external customers

 

Basic Qualifications:

-       Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.

-       Able to perform the general frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

-       Ability to solve problems and recommend solutions to technical problems as they are assigned.

-       General understanding of Requirements elicitation and generation.

-       General understanding of Architecture, Interface Definition, and Design.

-       Interact directly with systems engineers, software developers, testers, leaders, selected customers, and other professionals in a group.

-       Knowledge of MBSE and relative methodologies, e.g. OOSEM

-       Should also be able to collaborate on the creation, development, and presentation of technical briefings.

-       Good written and oral communications skills including attention to detail.

-       US Citizen with an active Secret clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

-       DoD Top Secret Clearance

-       Domain knowledge in RF sensors

-       Frequent use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML).

-       Capable of mentoring technical professionals and/or advising programs on the use of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

-       Experience with architecture/descriptive modeling tools, such as Cameo/Magic Draw or Rhapsody

-       Experience with DOORS and requirements/architecture linking

-       Experience with physics-based model or simulation development

-       Experience with Multidisciplinary Design Analysis Optimization (MDAO)

-       Experience working in an agile development environment

-       Experience with version control using e.g. Teamwork Cloud, SVN, GitHub


Salary Range: 96900 - 145300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
