Northrop Grumman Global Sustainment and Modernization Division (GSM) is seeking a Director of Strategy to join our diverse team of professionals in McLean, VA. The Director will report to the GSM vice president and general manager and will lead all aspects of the division strategy including the following:


  • Strategy Deployment Process (SDP): Lead the division process to develop and measure an integrated division strategy aligned with sector and corporate imperatives. Partner with business units and functions to define ‘target’ and ‘stretch’ objectives, and strategic gaps
  • Strategic Gap Analysis: Lead strategic gap analysis with BU’s and functions to identify technology, capability, or process gaps, prioritize them, and align resources to meet them
  • Competitive Capture: Assess and influence competitive strategies of sector and division priority win captures
  • Internal Investment (NCTA): Drive division process to prioritize Business Unit (BU) investment requests, aligned with SSSD strategy and gaps, and allocate resources. Develop candidates for sector-level funding, advocate for those resources, and manage division projects funded by the sector “pool”
  • Business Development Integration: Seamlessly partner with division Business Development director for customer engagement, pipeline management, and other competitive initiatives
  • Strategic Studies: Lead strategic arena, technology, competitor, or capability studies and provide strategic actions recommendations
  • Cross-Division Business Insight: Develop and maintain cross-sector relationships and business insight with other divisions.  Participate in all cross-sector Business Strategy Team reviews
  • Align Division to enterprise priorities:   Coordinate equities with sector and corporate campaigns
  • In partnership with VPGM and CFO, validate facilities, real estate and operations plans


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 15+ years of experience within the DoD/Logistics, Maintenance and Sustainment communities
  • 15+ years management experience (direct-reports or via projects/teams)
  • Detailed understanding of DoD customer sustainment and modernization priorities
  • Experience creating strategies, gap analysis, and associated investment plans
  • Proven and effective executive-level briefing, writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret or SCI security clearance.  US Citizenship is a prerequisite


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in discipline related to logistics, modernization, and sustainment
  • Current Top Secret or SCI security clearance Proven experience executing a
  • Strategy Deployment Process for $100M+ enterprise
  • Northrop Grumman internal investment process experience
  • OU P&L or large program execution responsibility
  • Led >$1B capture opportunity
  • Enterprise leadership experience

Salary Range: $216,200 USD - $324,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
