Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking an Associate Accountant to join our growing team of diverse professionals in McLean, Virginia. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting the Manager of Billing and will work with their team to ensure strong processes and controls are in place while providing value added services to the Defense Systems Sector.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares, and submits customer billings in compliance with contract ter ms and conditions, department policies/procedures, external regulations and SOX controls
• Uses the SAP financial system to create invoices for Government, Commercial and International Customers
• Represents the NGDS Billing Team in contract kickoff meetings while serving as the Billing point of contact for all AR setup questions
• Participates in miscellaneous accounts receivable reporting and resolution of invoice payment issues
• Supports monthly cash collection and forecasting goals while providing input to DS Business Management for AR billed/unbilled reviews
• Works hand-in-hand with internal and external customers involving any invoice-related AR questions
• Supports DCAA incurred costs and billing audits as needed
• Participates in month-end AR metrics reporting and any other special projects as needed
• Collaborates with Program Control, Contracts and External customers as necessary to resolve billing issues.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 4 years of accounting or finance experience
• Will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in a business, accounting, or finance discipline
• Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of SAP - Government Contracting Experience
• Excellent communication, organization and analytical skills
• The ability to handle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines

Salary Range: $50,200 USD - $75,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
