Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Financial Planning Analyst or Principal Financial Planning Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals at our sector headquarters in McLean, Virginia.  This position will be a part of the Defense Systems Financial Planning & Analysis team.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform variance analysis and identify key drivers of financial performance
  • Support sector forecast and planning (AOP/LRSP) processes
  • Prepare sensitivities analysis to evaluate risks and opportunities
  • Provide analysis and insights to support executive reporting and decision-making
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives/Digital Transformation
  • Interact with personnel and management at all levels
  • Other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Well-organized, schedule-driven, and ability to multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills to support variance reporting and quick turn ad hoc analysis for leadership
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, requiring minimal guidance and support
  • Ability to work on-site in McLean, Virginia (partial telework will be accommodated)

Qualifications for a Financial Planning Analyst (Level 2):

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of accounting or finance experience
  • Will also consider:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance experience
    • Master’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 1 years of accounting or finance experience

Qualifications for a Principal Financial Planning Analyst (Level 3):

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of accounting or finance experience
  • Will also consider:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 6 years of accounting or finance experience
    • Master’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline with a minimum of 4 years of accounting or finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Program Control Analyst experience is a plus
  • Experience with financial forecasting/budgeting and variance analysis
  • Experience with financial planning/reporting tools (Hyperion, Precision)
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Prior experience and success interfacing with multiple disciplines and varying levels of management
  • Government Contracting Experience
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)

Salary Range: $68,100 USD - $102,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
