Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a NG Fellow 2 responsible for evolving our Integrated Technology Strategy, providing leadership for the Technology Development infrastructure, collaborate across Enterprise with peers, and oversee the NGDS Technical Talent Development programs in partnership with our Human Resources Orgn.   

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience leading or providing key contributions to talent development in a related technical field, will have a track record of strong collaboration and leading by influence, and have successfully demonstrated technology strategy development, translation of strategy to planning, and driven execution of plans.  This position is geographically aligned to a NGDS facility.  Travel will be required.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and excellence oversight for a sector-wide virtual team of system analysts, architects, and designers focused on technology maturation for the NGDS Technology Capability Areas (TCA’s) implementation and upgrades, to include the identification of key gaps—skills, tools, and infrastructure—and the application of resources to close them. The candidate should possess an understanding of the DS portfolio of programs and enabling technologies to inform and guide the Technology Roadmaps. The candidate must also have a strong grasp of campaign execution, networking strategy, and possess the skills, drive, and judgement to interface with senior leaders across the company and customer community.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Partner with the NGDS Human Resources Talent Management team to develop and implement the Tech Talent development strategy to meet current NGDS business needs and to prepare our technical workforce for future work in line with the broader Defense Systems strategy.
  • Evolve NGDS Technology Roadmaps to inform Northrop Grumman’s strategy, shape future program pursuits and assist in developing discriminating Enterprise Mission Thread capabilities.
  • Serve as the focal point for Enterprise CTO Working Groups and coordinate enterprise-wide information requirements that align the Operating sectors’ Technology analysis requirements.
  • Conduct Technology full-spectrum analysis in support of key business functions, to include needs assessment, capability gap analysis, analysis of alternatives.
  • Support alignment of programs and resources to achieve business strategy via input to make/buy decisions on using internal vs external resources to develop technical solutions
  • Ensure TEM functional objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints  
  • Coordinate Systems and Tools Portfolio required to ensure optimized Sector approach to IR&D tracking, documentation, and reporting.
  • Develop relationships with customers, interfaces with key stakeholders, and support development of new business or expand our Technology credibility with the customer.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business
  • Nurture innovative environments, solutions, and concepts for DS strategic interests 
  • Sets and drives strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and is empowered to make decisions and be held accountable for results that significantly enable the annual operating plan (AOP) and long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes
  • Involved in attracting and capturing new business by participating in proposals, NARs and analyses of alternatives/trade studies requiring the area of technical expertise.
  • Advocate for technical differentiation through innovation or synthesis
  • Participate in customer, industry, and/or academic, advisory boards or consortiums

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 20 years of experience, 18 years with a Masters, or 15 years with a PHD
  • Experience with architecture development and mission operations
  • Experience in Mission Engineering solutions development for Weapon systems in Joint All-Domain Command and Control operating environment.
  • Familiar with complex scientific or technical analyses that require the synthesis of diverse disciplines and alternatives. 
  • Viewed as a technical leader by customers, peers and subordinates. 
  • DOD Secret clearance needed to start
  • Special Access Program clearable within a reasonable period based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field, advanced technical degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience designing, modeling, analyzing, and/or developing advanced aerospace systems, intended to operate in the Highly Contested Environment (HCE)
  • Experience designing and implementing technical development strategies and technical talent development programs to drive business results
  • TS/SCI; Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR)  
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time as required by business needs.  


Salary Range: $177,500 USD - $308,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
