Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (DS) is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal International Trade Compliance Analyst to join our team in McLean, VA. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Export and Import control laws and regulations; assisting in administration of OCR EASE software; designing/developing ITC resources; gathering and analysis of metric data; and researching and interpreting U.S. Government export/import regulations. This position will offer a hybrid schedule. Candidate will need to be able to work several days per week on-site in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Research and provide interpretation of U.S. Government regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Assist in the administration of OCR EASE software to include testing of new releases and non-U.S. subsidiary support

  • Assist in the development, improvement and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures for U.S. and non-U.S. subsidiaries

  • Perform compliance assessments of export and import records and assist as necessary in any investigations of potential compliance violations

  • Gather, analyze, and present data on performance metrics

  • Support and implementation of corrective actions that result from export/import compliance violations

  • Design and develop trainings, presentations, and articles regarding export/import compliance

  • Make formal presentations in meetings and training environments

  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-sector special project teams focused on trade compliance topics

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on education and/or years of experience.

Basic Qualification for Principal International Trade Compliance Analyst:

  • This position emphasizes skills and experience. Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 10 years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance relevant experience.

  • Will consider one of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance

    • Master's degree with a minimum of 4 plus years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance

  • Working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Proficiency with use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • Experienced and comfortable providing training in person or via virtual methods

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, VA

  • This position emphasizes skills and experience. Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 14 years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance relevant experience.

  • Will consider one of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance

    • Master's degree with a minimum of 8 plus years of International Trade Compliance or related experience in Trade and/or Legal Compliance

  • Working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Proficiency with use of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

  • Experienced and comfortable providing training in person or via virtual methods

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, VA

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of the OCR EASE Software

  • Knowledge of U.S. export/import licensing processes and use of D-Trade and SNAP-R systems

  • Knowledge of non-U.S. export/import regulations


Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
