The Principal / Sr Principal Systems Engineer is to provide engineering leadership, analysis, and execution support for the development of innovative systems. Focus is on creating Interface Control Documents (ICD’s), reviewing Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL’s) and Air Worthiness artifacts and Technical Data Packages (TDP’s), technical integration and coordination with internal and external engineering teams to solve complex issues, as well as support the PM regarding program scheduling and closure of activities.  The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Essential Functions:

Cross Integrated Product Team (IPT) technical integration

Reviews Supplier SDRLs and Air Worthiness Artifacts

Applies technical expertise, has knowledge to review SDRL’s for technical content and determine if addition actions need to be taken before submitting CDRL.

Work with suppliers and/or other IPTs to discuss resolution options to close out supplier SDRL deliveries and Air Worthiness artifacts.

Additional responsibilities related to supplier ICD’s, SDRL’s, Contractor Data Requirements List (CDRL’s), or AW artifacts may be required.

Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings at technical and program review IPT boards.  Exercises expert Technical and program review boards leadership

Applies extensive technical expertise in the development of technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.  Expertly manage engineering change proposals

Work is performed with no appreciable direction.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer level or Sr Principal Systems Engineer level

The basic qualifications for the Principal Systems Engineer are a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years engineering experience OR Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 3 years engineering experience

The basic qualifications for the Sr Principal Systems Engineer are a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 9 years engineering experience OR Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 7 years engineering experience

An active Secret DoD Clearance with an investigation in the past 5 years.

Must be able to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before establishing a start date (contingency).

Preferred Qualifications: 

Strong understanding of common SE process, experience writing ICD’s

Strong Model Based Systems Engineering academic or work-related experience.

Applies wide-ranging technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings

Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team environment.  Excellent leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills.  Able to interface with all levels of the workforce and management. 

Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.  Proven experience with team engagement experience in a leadership/Team

Work is performed with no appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment

Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.

Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) and Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), CORE, ACME, and Rhapsody experience a plus.


Salary Range: 87400 - 131200
Salary Range 2: 108400 - 162600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
