Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Systems Engineering Manager 2 (Specialty Engineering) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership opportunity is located in Melbourne, FL.

The Specialty Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers from the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), Human Factors, and System Safety disciplines.

The Specialty Engineering Manager is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring that the disciplines meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements
  • Oversight of the technical responsibility within the discipline
  • Balancing of staffing resources among programs
  • Resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues
  • Coordination of cost estimates in response to Requests for Estimates
  • Ensuring establishment and sustainment of strong working relationships with customer technical counterparts
  • Working directly with Functional Homeroom Management in goal planning and performance evaluations
  • Supporting the professional development of the individuals on the Specialty Engineering team

The successful candidate shall be capable of applying the systems engineering process and directing the operations of the Specialty Engineering groups to accomplish assignments received in detailed task. The candidate shall be responsible for providing strong leadership and clear direction to the team including:

  • Ensuring the disciplines understand their connection to the program’s business goals and their impact on financial results.
  • Ensuring the disciplines have clear processes and roles within the program.
  • Developing the current and future requirements to ensure the program’s needs are met.
  • Manage and provide guidance to junior engineers and ability to manage senior level engineers.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and management skills in Systems Engineering disciplines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 7 years of related professional/military engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree AND 5 years of related professional/military engineering experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following disciplines: System Safety, Human Factors, and/or Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).
  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current/active Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)
  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
  • Systems engineering experience in the following disciplines: System Safety, Human Factors, or Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3)
  • Previous Leadership Experience
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance in-scope

Salary Range: 123900 - 185900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
