Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Principal Lab Operations Cognizant Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on the Lab Operations team. This opportunity will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. 

  • Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. 

  • Coordinates integrated testing activities and reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program.

  • Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

  • Ensure facilities and infrastructure are configured and ready to support development and test efforts

  • Ensure test stations and assets are configured and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware on the test stations.

  • Work closely with QA to maintain and validate test station software and hardware.

  • Perform TRR, ATP for test stations and integration events.

  • Brief program management of progress and status of labs.

  • Assignments are often self-initiated.

  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

  • Work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of superior.

Basic Qualifications:   

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree with 3 years of engineering experience.

  • Must be able to attain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher).

  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher)

  • Active/Current Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)

  • Electrical Engineering Degree

  • Familiar using scheduling tools, such as MS Project.

  • Familiar with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

  • Capability to read and comprehend schematic diagrams.

  • Familiarity with Test Equipment, such as digital multimeters, O-scopes, power supplies etc.

  • Familiarity with Electronic Principles, MIL STD protocol for 1553, 429, and 1394 busses


Salary Range: 79700 - 119500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
