Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer/ Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

The role is responsible for Systems Engineering/Cybersecurity Engineering duties throughout the Systems Engineering V with an emphasis in the area of Secure Software (SS). Skills for a successful candidate include: Linux/RHEL, bash scripting, Ansible, Atlassian Suite, ACAS and SCC scanning, patching and applying STIGs, C++, Python, virtual machines (KVM/QEMU, VMware/Vcenter), and basic knowledge of RMF, DFARS, and CMMC. Candidates should have academic and/or work experience in one of the following engineering disciplines: systems, network, software, mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or data systems. Candidates should also have strong verbal, written communication and team building skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and significantly diverse assignments, ability to tailor communication to audience, and be comfortable working on large teams with talented Engineers from other engineering disciplines.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications: 

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer or a Sr Principal Cyber Systems Engineer level.


The basic qualifications for the Principal Cyber Systems Engineer are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience OR Master’s degree from an accredited university and 3 years of engineering experience. A total of 9 years of engineering experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

The basic qualifications for the Sr Principal Cyber Systems Engineer are a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 9 years of engineering experience OR Master’s degree from an accredited university and 7 years of engineering experience. A total of 13 years of engineering experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.


•    Active DoD final Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain it
•    Experience with a combination of: Linux RHEL, bash scripting, Ansible, virtual machines, applying STIGS, and scanning with ACAS and SCC 
•    Ability to obtain and retain restricted program clearances

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Possess a DOD 8570 certification: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar 
•    Experience working on military aircraft / spacecraft systems
•    Experience with Python and C++
•    Atlassian
•    Ansible
•    KVM/QEMU, VMware/Vcenter virtual machines 
•    Advanced STEM degrees in engineering, software, or science
•    Experience with DoD system security engineering activities
•    Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management


Salary Range: 96200 - 144200
Salary Range 2: 119300 - 178900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
