Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector’s Air Dominance Team is seeking a Customer Engagement Manager 3 in the Air Dominance Division to support Northrop Grumman’s efforts to provide the DoD solutions for Air Dominance Family of Systems.

The preferred location for this position will be located in Melbourne, Florida, but other locations will be considered such as El Segundo, CA; Falls Church, VA or Baltimore, MD. This position will require up to 50% travel.

The Customer Engagement Manager 3 – Air Dominance reports to the Director, Customer Engagement Air Dominance. Leads all Air Dominance customer engagement activities and is responsible for growth strategies, mission roadmaps, and advises on investment prioritization across all programs and captures in the Air Dominance portfolio with a focus on the Air Dominance Family of Systems.   This role will lead Strategic Councils, assist in strategy development, manage consultant activity, liaison with Corporate Government relations, and manage customer contact planning and execution.  The position will assist in validating Modeling and Simulation requirements and scenarios.

This position is responsible to formulate and execute strategies, messaging, and priorities for military customers and Congressional engagements. Specific Business Development Campaign responsibilities include:

  • Mission area subject matter expertise to include operational environment awareness, mission area analysis and requirements development.
  • Campaign strategy planning, development and execution to include arena and competitor analysis; opportunity identification and shaping; threat identification and mitigation; competitive assessment/intelligence analysis; and value proposition development.
  • Develop exceptional customer intimacy through regular contact with the customer community; coordinate and support senior level customer engagements, develop and implement customer engagement strategies, and support media communications and trade show activities.
  • Coordinates business development activities for Joint, international and domestic opportunities.
  • The Business Development Manager 3 – Air Dominance – ensures that business development and customer engagement activities are carried out in accordance with the ITAR, US Government, and Northrop Grumman policies, procedures, and processes.
  • This position identifies and implements business development projects relating to new products and/or industries, technologies, or services. Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of product development. Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models and coordinates with internal departments in identifying/implementing business development projects. May work with sales, marketing and potential customers to determine their needs. Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.  Additional responsibilities include development of; Long Range Strategic Planning (LRSP), Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Non Contractual Technical Activity (NCTA) plans.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years (OR Master’s degree with 7+ years) combined experience in any of the following: Defense Industry Business Development and/or Strategy, Program Management, Business Management, Contracts Management, Active Military Service, or Engineering.
  • Must have 5+ years' Leadership experience, either leading direct reports or integrated product teams
  • An in-scope (full investigation in the last six years) DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance with SSBI
  • Planning and execution or defense acquisition program experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years TACAIR pilot experience in Navy Strike Fighter Aircraft (F-35 or F/A-18E/F)
  • Experience teaching Weapons System employment and tactics development
  • Experience integrating joint and coalition capabilities across multiple warfighting domains
  • 5+ years strike planning and execution or defense acquisition program experience
  • Experience in mission and/or requirements development for the following:
    • Air Dominance
    • Autonomy / Unmanned Air Vehicles
    • Air Wing of the Future
    • Carrier Air Wing Operations
    • Strike Fighter Operations
    • Multi-Domain/Joint All-Domain Command and Control
  • Business Development or program management/execution experience in one or more programs / captures.
  • Proven experience developing and sustaining customer relationships
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Top Secret clearance with current TS/SCI and/or SAP.
  • Strong understanding of national strategy, military roles and missions, organization, enterprise process and business contacts.
  • Thorough knowledge of the DoD acquisition and planning/programming processes.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.


Salary Range: $134,200 USD - $233,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
