Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for an Electronics Engineering Manager 3 (Mission Systems IPT Capture Lead) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership role will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

  • Selected candidate will manage a team of Mission Systems IPT proposal writers supporting a Corporate Priority Win effort.
  • The candidate will report to both the Director, Mission Systems IPT Lead and to the Project Proposal Manager.
  • The candidate will ensure that the proposal is technically sound and meets all budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Additionally, the candidate will act as the lead for the Mission Systems IPT Capture efforts and work with the Mission Systems IPT team to help ensure all activities as required will meet technical, budgetary and schedule requirements. 
  • The candidate is expected to have at least 15 years industry experience with expertise in one or more Mission Systems (Sensors, Electronic Warfare, Communications, Mission Management design, development, I&T) and Platform/Air Vehicle Integration field.
  • The candidate must be able to plan, work, and status to a budget; develop, review, and present materials to senior management and Customers; work with the Mission Systems Subsystems Leads and collaborate across other IPTs; and have previous experience in working with and/or managing suppliers.
  • Candidate must be well organized with excellent writing skills, adaptable, and have a strong knowledge of advanced sensor integration and performance.
  • Managerial experience should include team leadership and Earned Value Management.
  • Communication and writing skills are imperative with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Previous proposal experience expected.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 6-10 Mission Systems IPT proposal writers supporting a Corporate Priority Win effort.
  • Ensure that the proposal is technically sound and meets all budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Act as the Mission Systems IPT Capture Lead and oversee Mission Systems proposal team activities as required to meet technical, budgetary and schedule requirements.

The selected candidate should have extensive experience in the following areas:

  • Estimating large sensor, electronic warfare and/or communications program efforts
  • Identifying and lead opportunities to reduce cost
  • Support the Mission Systems Subsystems Leads in trade studies
  • Producing artifacts to support capture efforts and developing master plans and schedules

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 15 years of related professional/military experience in engineering that includes a background in Mission Systems and Platform/Air Vehicle Integration, OR a Master’s degree AND 13 years of related professional/military experience in engineering that includes a background in Mission Systems and Platform/Air Vehicle Integration.
  • Must have experience with proposals and leading successful program captures within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Must have experience in a people leadership role.
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required by business needs.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher that was granted or renewed within the last 6 years or is under continuous evaluation and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) prior to the commencement of employment. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (in-scope)
  • Current/Active Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)
  • Extensive experience with Mission Systems development (Sensors, Electronic Warfare, Communications and/or Mission Management) and Platform/Air Vehicle Subsystems Integration
  • Previous experience with Mission Systems supplier management

Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
