Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a GSC Strategic Sourcing, Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join a team of qualified and diverse individuals on our special program.  This position can be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Job responsibilities include mutually related business and technical administration responsibilities for all aspects of make/buy analysis, development, integration, execution and ability to produce of Northrop Grumman Corporation Aeronautics Sector platforms. The position requires skilled technical oversight and guidance of Supplier Management personnel with a strong  emphasis in supporting Global Supply Chain (GSC) category management and subcontracts with program business strategies and tactical initiatives to meet organizational objectives. Responsible to proactively identify and mitigate current and potential future supply chain gaps, identify, and develop new capabilities and capacity to address incongruities to existing manufacturing industry competencies and proficiencies. 

Essential functions:

  • Develop, communicate and execute sourcing strategies for assigned category or commodities to support agile supply chain scaling requirements and recommendations.
  • Provide timely process improvements, proactively evaluated and address supply chain risks and opportunities, including business case justification and formal presentation of Sourcing recommendations to GSC Executive Leadership and at Engineering Technical Review meetings.
  • Ability to utilize ERP system and/or similar business tools to evaluate and identify part/product alignment to qualified suppliers to meet technical, compliance, contractual and customer requirements.
  • Review and interpret Northrop Grumman Corporation technical requirements, supplier capabilities, and manufacturing milestones to align near-term and/or future deliverable manufacturing and process improvements.
  • Identify and cultivate business prospects and maintain project schedules using MS Project and/or other reporting and presentation tools.
  • Perform root cause investigation and implement corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances and improve manufacturing process repeatability.
  • Required technical appreciation of model-based data, and data analytics to support transformation of technologies to align to digital transformation initiatives.

Candidate will be a self-starter, confident in knowledge and experiences to succeed in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, within a collaborative team setting across all levels of professional and technical engagement. 

Candidate must be comfortable and willing to handle an amalgamation of GSC administrative and Engineering technical demands. Understand ERP system requirements and be able to work in partnership with metallurgy and process engineering, system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of applicable experience OR a Master’s degree and 7+ years applicable experience
  • Combination of strong business acumen and technical skills with supply chain management experience
  • General knowledge of ERP business systems
  • Minimum of a 1 year of experience in a non-metallic or composites manufacturing engineering role
  • 3+ years of advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; other productivity tools
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs (an Interim Secret Clearance is required to start)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years hands on knowledge of SAP business systems
  • Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Project/Program/Business Management
  • Experience with advanced composites manufacturing processes (prepreg processing, drilling and routing of composites, structural adhesives) for large scale, primary structures in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with Siemens NX CAD suite
  • Six (6) years or more experience in systems or hardware design and integration


Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
