Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. 

The Systems Engineer must be capable of developing advanced systems architectures with 5G technologies and reflecting those in customer deliverable Cameo/DOORS format.  The candidate should also have an interest and some experience in developing DoDAF and SysML views.  The systems engineer must be comfortable working and developing product in the tool sets.  The candidate must be able to present to customers using the models.  

We are looking for innovative thinkers who are interested in supporting the application of commercial technologies to operational military use cases. These technologies include 5G communications, machine learning, and future wireless technologies in support of advanced battle management capabilities. Must be able to thrive in fast-paced environments, minimum skills include: comfortable multi-tasking and reprioritizing daily, drafting whitepapers and proposals, building PowerPoint and giving verbal presentations, and self-educating without direction.  Desired experience in creating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and/or executing program budgets.

 Essential Functions:

  • Designs, develops,  and documents systems that contain logical solutions using model based systems engineering
  • Desired experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Analysis of specifications and SME documentation to develop model solutions
  • Must be self-starter and comfortable learning with minimal supervision
  • Contingency:  Position is contingent on Program Award and having an In-scope DoD Secret clearance

  • This requisition may be filled at either the Systems Engineer OR at the Principal Systems Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications

  • Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline  and 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree  in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline  and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree  in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience in systems engineering OR PhD degree in a STEM discipline  and 0+ years of experience in systems engineering
  • Experience developing model based systems engineering products
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture modeling for system design
  • Experience with DOORS for requirements development and traceability
  • An active DoD Secret with an investigation within 5 years 

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
