Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

This Systems Engineering Manager 2 will be responsible for leading efforts related to the hardware configuration management statement of work for an exciting on-going pursuit. This position reports to the Melbourne Systems Engineering Mission Requirements and Configuration Data Management Department Manager.

The successful SE Manager candidate will:

  • Possess a strong understanding of SE fundamentals and how these fundamentals are associated with aerospace acquisition.  Be able to describe SE activities in all phases of the SE “Vee” Model 
  • Have a rich background in and experience working in SE disciplines in a defense role and have demonstrable experience working as a manager or lead in a technical role
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Enjoy leading and mentoring technical professionals and helping them succeed in their careers

Job Duties include:

  • Leading the Hardware Configuration Management (HWCM) team performing configuration identification, change control, auditing, configuration status accounting, and reporting on both internally and externally developed products, including commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS). 
  • Supporting and collaborating with design engineering by appropriately controlling engineering release and associated documentation as products go through the development cycle.  
  • Supporting technical data package development. 
  • Collecting and analyzing CM metrics to identify areas for process improvement and to measure throughput and team and individual performance.
  • Establishing a culture of innovation and automation.
  • Contributing to the improvement of engineering release within a Model Based Systems Engineering Digital Thread environment.
  • Ensuring deviations and waivers are generated properly and in a timely fashion, as necessary

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science Degree and 9 years of professional/military experience in Systems Engineering that includes a background in configuration analysis OR Master’s Degree and 7 years of professional/military experience in Systems Engineering that includes a background in configuration analysis
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must be able to attain & maintain special program access by passing an enhanced security background review prior to the commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous manager experience
  • Experience with enterprise Product Data Management systems, such as CPLM or TeamCenter Unified.

Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
