Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering Manager 2 (E-2D System Test Manager) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our System Integration, Test and Evaluation (SIT&E) Organization. This leadership role is located in Melbourne, Florida.

The selected candidate is responsible for the System Test Integrated Product Team supporting the Test and Evaluation Manager on the E-2D programs.  The selected candidate is responsible for the management of a lab based test team executing domestic and international testing supporting multiple software baselines.  The requirements and functionality based lab testing is completed incrementally and provides functionality to the Flight Test team.  Candidate will be responsible for requirements decomposition to facilitate testability and work closely with the laboratory operations team to build capability within the SIL to support testability. In addition, the selected candidate will be require to provide career guidance and functional directions to members of the E-2D System Test team.

The selected candidate will contribute to high-visible activities and have opportunities to periodically demonstrate integrated capabilities to sector leadership and high value customers.

Essential Functions:

Functional responsibilities

  • Support the annual salary review and promotion process.
  • Mentor and develop the next generation of technical and project leadership.
  • Improve and enforce engineering processes and procedures.
  • Maintain Team’s staffing by conducting interviews and selecting the best candidate for the job.

Technical responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Test and Evaluation Leadership and E-2D program manager to develop strategies, methodologies and execute to achieve program goals.  Documenting solutions/plans in the proposal technical volume.
  • Identify and review relevant past performance data in effort to develop sound BOEs for future efforts
  • Develop System Test inputs to program planning and engineering strategies/execution objectives.
  • Direct customer and supplier interaction to include regular coordination and support of test objectives
  • Support recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conduct interviews, and approve job offers
  • Provide team with career development recommendations, mentoring, and training plans based off individual and program needs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university and 9 years of test and/or aircraft operations experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university and 7 years of test and/or aircraft operations experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of test and/or aircraft operations experience.
  • Must have an active DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) with the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as deemed by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Significant experience operating within the Systems test or lab-based test environments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Automated testing experience
  • Distributed test experience


Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
