Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal/ Sr Principal Systems Engineer Architect that leverages Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the Advanced Hawkeye program's architecture in Melbourne, FL. This position will be responsible for leading the development of systems engineering models to capture architecture baselines, accelerating systems engineering efforts on new capability development programs, and working as part of a team driving digital transformation to model-based practices within the enterprise. 

Successful candidate must have excellent communication skills as frequent interactions with the customers and other IPTs are expected. Candidate must be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of system engineers in the areas of aircraft systems, weapons systems, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Candidate must be a team player capable of applying their experience and leadership to add value to a common model-based engineering plan and approach.

The engineer's efforts are as follows:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

This requisition may be filled at either Principal Systems Engineer or Sr Principal Systems Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications

For Principal Systems Engineer Architect: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience with Bachelors in Science OR 3 years of related engineering experience with Masters' Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline OR a PhD in STEM.

For Sr Principal Systems Engineer Architect: Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with a minimum of 9 years of related engineering experience -OR- Master’s Degree in STEM plus of a minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience -OR- Ph.D. Degree in STEM plus a minimum of 4 years of related engineering experience

• Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance and ability to maintain
• Experience in complex systems
• Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain specific program access after start of employment 
• Experience in SysML  

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance  
• Experience in systems modeling and Cameo Enterprise Architecture
• Systems engineering experience on military aircraft programs


Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
