Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Reliability/ Sr. Principal Engineer Reliability to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either a Principal Engineer Reliability level or a Sr. Principal Engineer Reliability level based on the qualifications listed. **

The Engineer will be assigned work in the Logistics & Modernization organization performing System Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering Analysis. Candidate will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and verifying subsystem R&M performance requirements for all design changes and new development efforts to ensure that R&M program requirements are achieved. The primary responsibility of the position will be reliability, maintainability, and testability. 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform R&M allocations and predictions

  • Develop Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

  • Perform Built in Test (BIT) testability analysis

  • Perform mission reliability analysis

  • Perform failure tracking within the Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)

  • Develop and review plans maintainability demonstrations

  • Develop/review/approve Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Reliability Growth Testing (RGT), and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS)

  • Liaison with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and suppliers for the R&M of assigned subsystems

Basic Qualifications:

For Principal Engineer Reliability

  • 5 Years of engineering experience with Bachelor’s in Science from an accredited college/university; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.

  • Must have experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline

  • Must have the ability to obtain DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time as determined by the company to meet business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

For Principal Engineer Reliability

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5 years of experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline

  • Excellent oral and written communication & interpersonal skills

  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry

  • Active, In scope DoD Secret clearance within the last 5 years with Special Program Access

Basic Qualifications:

For Sr. Principal Engineer Reliability

  • 9 Years of engineering experience with Bachelor’s in Science from an accredited college/university; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

  • Must have experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline

  • Must have the ability to obtain DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time period as determined by the company to meet business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

For Sr. Principal Engineer Reliability

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

  • 10 years of experience in Reliability and Maintainability Engineering discipline

  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Excellent oral and written communication & interpersonal skills

  • Experience mentoring early career employees

  • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry

  • Active, In scope DoD Secret clearance within the last 5 years with Special Program Access

  • Experience developing contractual customer deliverables for reliability analyses

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
