Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a System Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within Integration and Test. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

In this role, you will utilize your understanding of various mechanical, electrical and laser systems, you will develop an expert understanding of your assigned subsystems, and the lab as a whole in how it supports the production and development environments for the Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical proficiency in multiple areas of hardware, networks, computer hardware and software, and interfacing technologies
  • Ensure networks and hardware assets are configured and ready to test by deploying software and configuring hardware
  • Configure, build and troubleshoot advanced networks, hardware and communication systems in a laboratory environment
  • Collaborate with other engineers and lab users to ensure the lab meets test requirements and the needs of all stakeholders and coordinates integrated testing activities
  • Developing and releasing engineering documentation for a detailed laboratory architecture and requirements baseline
  • Support Management and lab users on technical applications and best practices
  • Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet program needs, including present and future requirements

Basic Qualifications (System Test Engineer):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 2 years relevant experience OR Master's Degree in a (STEM) discipline AND 0 years relevant experience OR a PhD AND 0 years of experience
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Test Execution
  • Familiarity with Test Equipment, such as digital multimeters, O-scopes, power supplies etc.
  • Familiarity with lasers systems and safety procedures
  • Familiarity with Electronic Principles, MIL STD protocol for 1553, 429, and 1394 busses
  • Experience troubleshooting networks, fiber optics lines, RF systems, etc
  • Perform as the hardware responsible engineer for subsystems under test


Salary Range: $64,600 USD - $97,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
