Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting engineering career opportunity for a Senior Staff Systems Architect – Survivability to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can report out of Melbourne, FL, Redondo Beach, CA, or Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and integrates advanced technology to reduce the detectability of aircraft in the electromagnetic, infrared, visual and acoustic spectrums
  • Develops and implements predictive analysis codes; builds and tests physical models; designs, develops and builds test and verification equipment; and develops, tests and integrates specialty materials
  • Works closely with engineers of other disciplines to optimize the integration of this technology on existing and future aircraft
  • Work independently and mentor early career engineers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in STEM discipline AND a minimum of 14 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a Master’s degree AND a minimum of 12 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a PhD AND a minimum of 9 years of related professional experience in Engineering
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret or higher clearance (with an in scope background investigation or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Must have strong experience and/or knowledge in signature reduction technology integration, RCS design, analysis, and testing with applicable material selections
  • Must be an expert using 1D, 2D, and 3D computational electromagnetic (CEM) codes to develop solutions for survivable systems and components for RAS edges and inlet lips
  • Must be an expert with one or more CAD software solutions such as CATIA, Unigraphics, NX

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Fighter RCS design for Maritime environment
  • Proficiency in RF modeling and testing at an indoor/outdoor RCS/RF test facility
  • Experience with edge design and antenna integration
  • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personal interaction and collaboration with a multi-disciplined team and customers
  • Ability to work with internal support organizations such as Global Supply Chain and Security
  • Programming experience in C++, MATLAB, Python, or other highly technical languages
  • Ability to use CAE and/or FEA tools (i.e. FMS, Patran, Cubit, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and ability with RCS data processing tools, such as Knowbell, SABER, or Pioneer
  • Active/Current Special Program Access (SAP)

Salary Range: $149,700 USD - $259,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
