Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida


This position supports the Weapon System Cybersecurity Sector level engineering team which is a Tier I Community of Practice at the same level as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and Test Engineering. In this role, the candidate will assist programs in evolving their capability using the Sector standardized processes and tools. In addition, the candidate will be directly supporting a collection of programs and will gain valuable cross-program experience. In addition, candidates will support cybersecurity assessments, standardization, development and testing efforts. Candidates will work as a part of a highly experienced and skilled team and have the opportunity to positively contribute to programs across the Sector.

It is important that the candidate has previous experience integrating the RMF into engineering releases. In this role the candidate will be instrumental in assisting engineering programs with integrating effective and efficient cybersecurity standardization. This role will exercise and grow the candidate’s technical, organizational and business skills as part of a high functioning team.

This position requires knowledge and understanding of systems engineering methodologies and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle. The candidate must be able to prepare technical documents, support ongoing authorization inputs, and work in a dynamic environment. The role is responsible for Systems Engineering/Cybersecurity Engineering duties throughout the Systems Engineering V with an emphasis in one or more of the four areas: secure software, secure technology, secure networks and enclaves, and/or secure requirements and verification. Candidates should have academic and/or work experience in one of the following engineering disciplines: systems, network, software, mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or data systems. Candidates should also have strong verbal and written communication skills, strong team building skills, thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations and significantly diverse assignments, and be comfortable working on large teams with talented Engineers from other engineering disciplines.

Basic Qualifications: 

• For Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant engineering experience, a Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant engineering experience, or an Associate's degree and 7 years of experience.

• For Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant engineering experience, a Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant engineering experience, or an Associate's degree and 11 years of experience.

Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

• Must have DoD 8570/8140 Certification level II

Preferred Qualifications: 

Active Top Secret DoD clearance

DoD 8570/8140 Certification level III

Experience executing RMF within an engineering program lifecycle

Experience with hardware and/or software/operating systems

Security+ Certified

Proficiency with GRC tools (eMASS, Xacta, Archer), SCAP, ACAS, Nessus, STIG viewer

Ability to obtain program access after start

Salary Range: $96,400 USD - $144,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $119,400 USD - $179,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
