Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a candidate with outstanding leadership skills to fill a Manager 1 position for a new and exciting effort located in Melbourne, FL. This is a dual role position encompassing both people leadership and direct technical performance. This position will manage a team that may support multiple programs, projects and initiatives.

This role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: People Leadership and Technical Performance.

Ensure team has a clear purpose and clear roles; Communicate information to employees in a timely manner to help them to be productive and engaged; Give direct feedback to people on her/his team about their performance and potential in the organization; Find and develop talent. Functional responsibilities include staffing and workload forecast, employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development. Additional responsibilities include coordinating specific staffing requirements, drafting/reviewing requisitions and performing hiring manager responsibilities, identifying rotational opportunities for employees, and performance management.

Ensure personnel within the discipline team are meeting technical requirements of supported programs. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and have success as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The qualified candidate will also provide significant (approximately 80%) direct support to programs and/or other technical efforts, including capture and proposals. This will include but is not limited to Cyber Engineering and Dev Sec Ops efforts as well as estimating, planning, risk management, managing cost and schedule (EVMS) and quality on programs to meet contract commitments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an active Secret Clearance, with a PR within last 5 years
  • Must be able to obtain Special Program Access prior to onboarding and then maintain
  • Must have 9 years of relevant experience. Will consider 5 years of relevant experience in Cyber and/or Networking with a Bachelor's Degree
  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAM Level II Certification (CISSP, CAP, CISM). Or current DoD 8570 IAM Level I cert (Security+) with the ability to obtain a level 2 cert within 6 months
  • Must have direct supervisory/managerial experience and/or significant team leadership (IPT lead)
  • Candidate must have a full understanding of his/her specific engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of engineering process, be proficient in process development and implementation as well as functional organization aspect
  • Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
  • Familiarity with other Engineering disciplines
  • Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exposure to requirements analysis and decomposition.  Demonstrated knowledge of Systems Engineering processes, milestones and SDLC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DoD 8570 IAM III Certification (GLSC, CISSP, CASP CE)
  • DoD 8500-series and 8510.01 IA policy directives, approaches to cyber security, knowledge of security procedures, IATO and ATO requirements
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), negotiation and interpersonal skills necessary to support known ISSE activities/challenges working with engineering teams, management, customers, partners and government
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies
  • Experienced in all aspects of Engineering processes of subsystem and software development
  • Experience with cloud solutions like Azure and AWS
  • Experience with Training Systems of Support Equipment

Salary Range: $103,300 USD - $154,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
