This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.   Essential Functions: 
  • Under close supervision, performs routine technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and Electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment. 
  • Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems. Guidance is readily available from superiors. 
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks. 
  • Performs routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications. 
  • Diagnoses and isolates malfunctions down to component level. Conducts defined engineering tests and collects data as assigned. 
  • Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.  
  • This position reports to the E-2D SIL Ops Manager. 
  • Travel maybe required.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have 4+ years of laboratory or applicable DoD Industry experience such as using hand tools, soldering, testing equipment, prototype building / testing, working with various circuits and/or fabrications, etc.
  • An active in-scope DoD Secret Security Clearance that has been granted / renewed within the past 5 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance (TS/SCI) and Special Program Access
  • High School Diploma and/or GED from an accredited institution
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited university with 1+ year of laboratory or defense industry technician experience
  • A current DoD Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
  • Experienced with testing and troubleshooting within a system environment, familiarity with the operation, and maintenance of military aircraft electronics involving communication systems, avionics, navigation, and related sensor systems a plus
  • Demonstrated good soldering and crimp skills, able to fabricate cables and harnesses against engineering drawings and parts lists
  • Possessing solder & crimp certifications a plus
  • Familiarity with testing & troubleshooting using appropriate test equipment in a system environment incorporating various data interfaces such as Ethernet, 1553, ARINC, RS-488, 232, etc. a plus
  • Proficiency with hand tools and small power tools
  • Work reflects highest level of quality toward best commercial and or MIL Std. practices and standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Visio and or Autodesk AutoCAD or related CAD programs
