We are seeking an experienced Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Weapon Systems facility in Mesa, AZ. This position requires experience in applying Electrical Engineering practices to all phases of military programs for weapon systems application, including:

  • Technical leadership for Electrical Engineers on programs comprised of diverse and competing requirements. The person filling this role will work with an Integrated Product Team across engineering disciplines to ensure teams are progressing toward an optimal interdisciplinary solution.
  • Leads team of Electrical Engineers through development ensuring processes and procedures are followed, technical tradeoffs are considered, design requirements identified and understood, milestone adherence and change management.
  • Primary engineering interface to program management and business development to ensure alignment to program goals. Provides daily updates up to program management team and is primary communicator of program strategy to design engineering team.
  • Presents program technical status to internal management and customers..
  • Performs research, design, and development in such areas as cabling/harness design, power conditioning electronics, motor controller design, digital circuit design, and other general electrical engineering design functions.
  • Possesses working knowledge of brushed and brushless motors.
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development and testing of electrical circuits for use in military applications.
  • Capable of generating design schematics preferably with experience using CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics. Additionally, is capable at performing circuit simulations and analysis.
  • Possesses experience in usage of Data Acquisition systems as well as data post-processing.
  • Develops specifications for and performs selection of components for use in electrical circuits for military applications.
  • Oversees board layout and provides pertinent design factors for first pass success on circuit realization.
  • Compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on electrical circuits for military applications.
  • Possesses experience with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, and MIL-STD-461 (or aerospace equivalent – I.E DO-160).
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team to understand system level interdependencies that impact requirements and design constraints.

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on years of experience and/or education.

Basic Qualifications for Principal EE:

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Experience in technical leadership of a complex program requiring the coordination of engineering work effort.
  • Design experience in the areas of cabling/harness design, motor controllers, motors, solenoids, and PWB/CCA design and evaluation. History of leading technical activities.
  • Experience in systems at various levels of integration and qualification.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross functional team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing, short turn-around environment.
  • Position may require occasional travel to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with suppliers.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal EE:

  • Includes all of the above in addition to at least 9 years of Electrical Engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prefer experience in developing high reliability electronics for military applications
  • Prefer experience in integration, qualification, and testing related to military applications
  • Familiar with MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461
  • Familiar with brushed/brushless motors and brushed/brushless motor controllers
  • Familiar with testing requirements and data-post processing (in Excel, Matlab, or Python)

Salary Range: 79400 - 119200
Salary Range 2: 98500 - 147700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
