Northrop Grumman Armament Systems Division based in Mesa, Arizona produces automatic medium caliber gun systems. Our gun systems built for the United States and international allied militaries have been used in all major conflicts since World War II in a variety of applications to include small and large ground vehicles, helicopters, airplanes, and naval ships.
 Northrop Grumman is looking for a General Manufacturing Manager 2 to lead our talented guns production assembly and test team at the Guns Operating Unit at our Mesa, AZ site.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager of the Guns Operating Unit, this position is responsible for the direct and hands on supervision of approximately seventeen (17) highly experienced assembly and test technicians in a manufacturing environment. The Manager provides direction to technicians utilizing management guidelines and general policies.
Responsibilities
  • Assign and manage technicians as needed to maximize efficiency and achieve on time delivery
  • Manage the use of consumables and production hardware to achieve budget targets
  • Implement manufacturing process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule
  • Perform required ERP transactions to manage product flow on the factory floor
  • Ensures team members receive the required training to provide consistent work product
  • In conjunction with Production Control, prepares the daily work plans in support of overall program objectives and schedule performance
  • Support ISO/BSI, LEAN, Continuous Improvement, and Quality initiatives
  • Providing direction and coaching to technicians and other operations personnel in the production assembly, manufacturing, and test teams
  • Coordination with other functions to successfully resolve technical issues and provide concise communication to customers and senior leadership
     



  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or technology
  • 5+ years of proven manufacturing employee management
  • Ability to manage a budgeted cost center
  • Skilled at resolving disputes and negotiating with positive outcome
  • Builder of great relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong formal and informal communication skills with all levels of internal and external management; a skilled listener
  • Demonstrates consistent decision making and exercise appropriate judgment   that balances customer and company requirements
  • Ability to manage risk to reduce likelihood and severity of program impacts
  • Must have advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Power user of ERP systems; preferably CostPoint
This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
