Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Principal Test Conductor to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The team provides material process development and fabrication laboratory testing services to support active programs and develop new technologies for next generation programs. This position will be located on-site in El Segundo, CA.

Position Overview:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems, located in El Segundo, California, is seeking a motivated candidate to lead the Polymers Development lab within the Materials Development and Fabrication Laboratories as a Principal Test Conductor. The qualified applicant will be proficient with hands-on application techniques and best practices for a diverse set of paste adhesives, including common industry sealants and advanced, specialty adhesives.
In addition to performing hands-on application work, the selected candidate will:
- Proactively work with customers to identify objectives, risks, and deliverables for incoming work packages utilizing a laboratory work tracking system
- Collaborate with the team to execute work orders on-time and on-budget
- Interpret process specifications, work instructions and engineering drawings to understand and meet customer expectations
- Perform resource management and distribute work among a team of technicians and engineers
- Responsible for work scheduling, material inventory and equipment management throughout the polymers lab
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with program customers, engineering, and functional management to ensure alignment and successful completion of work packages
- Facilitate effective and frequent communication among all stakeholders to promptly address operational issues and challenges
- Ensure continued lab operations and execution to the statement of work
- Work with other resources across the department and organization
- Ensure safety and regulatory compliance requirements including identifying and addressing safety concerns
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited university and 5 years of related Engineering experience, or a Master of Science Degree in STEM and 3 years of related Engineering experience, or 1 year with a PhD.. In lieu of a degree, 15 years of relevant professional experience in aerospace paste adhesive/sealant application.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with aerospace paste adhesive/sealant applications.
- Experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and test specifications.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with engineers and management from multiple disciplines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
- Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in project estimation and scheduling of engineering activities.
- Experience as a team lead and/or test conductor.
- Aerospace & Defense Industry experience with an active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
