M71004 - Milling Machinist 4

We are looking for a Milling Machinist 4 to join our Tooling Team in Mojave CA!

The Candidate selected for this position sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations. The selected candidate will be required to support manufacturing environment covering multiple programs, and support tooling and production requirements needed at suppliers and/or customers.  This position is for 1st shift on a 4/10A schedule and supports the Mojave location.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working in a machine shop
  • Must have the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, GD & T, and other engineering specifications
  • Must have working knowledge of shop floor mathematics and measuring tools/equipment
  • Ability to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
  • Ability to set-up, program and operate CNC machines.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tool and precision measuring instrument
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Candidate must have a willingness to learn and possess a positive team working attitude
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work safely and concern for the safety of others
  • Possess an existing DoD and Special program access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MasterCam experience preferred
  • Machine programming is highly desirable
  • Overtime may be requested on occasion to support critical deadlines (~10%)
