Sr. Principal Flight Test Engineer

Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.  Serve as lead flight test engineer on our Gulfstream II and Gulfstream IV flying testbed aircraft in Lancaster and Mojave, CA.  Provide test planning for envelope expansion followed by mission system payload testing.  Coordinate with engineering disciplines to initiate a new payload installation on our aircraft and lead Safety reviews and Flight Readiness Reviews.  Serve as an onboard crewmember and serve as a Test Conductor during flights.  Interface with instrumentation and payload engineers to collect the desired data.  Provide post-flight reports and work within a prescribed budget. Must attend altitude training and be able to support evacuation procedures in an emergency. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of relevant engineering experience (electrical, aerospace, mechanical, etc); Master’s Degree and 7 years
• Must be able to obtain a third class medical
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active DoD Secret Clearance
• Pilot’s license, A&P mechanic, and/or experience as an airborne crewmember
• Experienced with airframe modifications and envelope expansion
• Strong leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
