Northrop Grumman seeks an Engineering Manager / Lead Engineer with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) experience to lead the Advanced Signals and Cyber (ASC) engineering group.  This engineering group is responsible for the applied research, development and prototyping of innovative signal processing capabilities.  Typical engineering responsibilities include communications and digital signal processing research, guiding transition of designs for firmware development on FPGA platforms, software development on GPP and ARM platforms, and basic prototyping of solutions.  The role encompasses functional management and technical program execution as follows:

Functional management for the ASC Communications R&E function including:

  • Manage, supervise, and develop the ASC engineering team to achieve continued excellence in applied research solutions
  • Work with program managers to provide leadership, tasking assignments, staffing, and direction to the team; manage resources to support program schedules, priorities, and customers
  • Manage the ASC engineering personnel to include hiring, employee development, program oversight, and performance management
  • Coordinate with other Northrop Grumman R&E organizations for successful task and program execution
  • Support business development including technical support to customer meetings, participation in Business Strategy Team (BST) team meetings, and capture management for selected pursuits 

Serve as a technical lead for communications and signal processing engineering including:

  • Lead the analysis, modeling, and requirements development for various digital signal processing endeavors
  • Apply technical expertise and background in support of communications and signal processing research for ASC programs, specifically in reprogrammable logic/firmware solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers in research and engineering concepts
  • Conduct technical assessments and trade studies in support of ASC program managers
  • Develop specifications for software, firmware, and hardware communications systems

On a daily basis, you will support 7-8 DSP engineers.  To be successful, you will need strong experience with functional management, experience with digital signal processing, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Basic Requirements

  • Engineering functional management experience
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years directly relevant technical and lead role experience
  • Engineering experience in digital signal processing. FPGA, communications
  • Understanding of FPGA firmware development using MATLAB, VHDL/Verilog and UVM verification methods. 
    • Additional experience with C/C++, and Python is a plus
  • Ability to efficiently develop professional presentations and reports using MS Office products
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with wireless protocols including CDMA, UMTS, 4G/5G LTE and/or WiFi
  • Experience in radar signal processing techniques
  • Experience in software defined radio and/or real-time software
  • Cyber security
  • Active Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: 117200 - 175800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
