Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Python and C/C++ Developer to work as a member of an Agile team developing a high-visibility, mission critical component of a larger system. The new team members will be working with DevOps, deployment to and operation on Linux, requirements development, and model-based systems engineering. The developers will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. The ideal candidates will be responsible for working individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. The team is seeking talented engineers who resolve software problems, utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

This role may be performed in either Morrisville, NC or Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Contribute to software development and integration efforts for a Ground System
  • Assist team of administrators and developers with integration of tenants into an existing cloud based architecture
  • Participate overall system evaluation efforts, code reviews, collaborate on requirements, design documentation and test plans as a part of the overall software design and development process
  • Assist with identifying, developing and implementing solutions for software related technical issues that could impact costs, schedule, or performance
  • Review and analyze code scan results, and provide way- ahead mitigation recommendations in support of software assurance effort
  • Interface with other software developers and testers during integration and new version releases
  • Work closely with customer during S/W implementation and troubleshoot during integration activities

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below. 

Basic Qualifications:

For a Principal Engineer Software (T3): Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 5 + years of software development experience; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD; or 9 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.

For a Sr. Principal Engineer Software (T4): Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 9 + years of software development experience; 7 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD; or 14 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience with Agile software development using Python and/or C++ software development in a Linux environment
  • Strong experience with Python and C/C++ software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with AWS Development/Deployment
  • Experience with containerizing Python and C++ applications using Docker, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of object oriented design
  • Experience with scripting
  • Knowledge of software lifecycles
  • Experience with version control software
  • The ability to develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance or higher (required to start)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI /w Poly security clearance An ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • An ability to design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
  • Experience with debugging existing software and correcting defects.
  • An ability to integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Assisting with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Experience with supporting distributed systems
  • Experience in developing and supporting multi-threaded applications
  • Experience with working in Virtualized Environments (VMs, AWS Cloud Instances)
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Active TS/SCI /w Poly security clearance

Salary Range: 92000 - 145000
Salary Range 2: 114100 - 179600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
