The Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join a Ground Segment team as the SEIT Lead in Morrisville, NC or Aurora, CO. The ideal candidate must have the ability to understand, define, and develop ground system specifications, interfaces, processing platforms, and virtualized compute infrastructure requirements. The candidate will also be responsible for ground systems architecture by defining, adapting and deploying ground software applications and mission data management across virtualized and distributed infrastructure.
 

The SEIT Lead is responsible for directing the execution of the overall systems engineering, integration, and test (SEIT) effort on the program. The SEIT Lead is also responsible for horizontal and vertical integration across all engineering elements of the program. The SEIT Lead ensures the integrity of systems engineering processes, and timely development of core systems engineering work products. The SEIT Lead typically has Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibility, which comprises cost and schedule management for the SEIT work scope. The SEIT Lead interfaces with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, System Architect, other engineering team leads, as well as the customer.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with a minimum of 20 years’ related experience in an engineering environment, 18 years with Masters; 15 Years with PhD
  • This position requires a current/active TS/SCI and the willingness to take a CI poly
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Experience in software systems development, software integration and test.
  • Experienced with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experienced with various systems engineering tools and techniques including model-based systems engineering such as Cameo, Confluence, Bitbucket, and DOORS for requirements management
  • Experience in multiple aspects of the engineering process from proposal / requirements analysis through verification testing
  • Experience in a Systems Engineering Integration & Test environment for remote sensing space systems, especially within the defense industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and the proven leadership skills in an integrated product team (IPT) environment
  • Experience with satellite systems and ground architectures, and cloud computing architectures
  • Experience in development and Earned Value Management (EVM) of cost accounts and schedules

Salary Range: $157,500 USD - $236,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
