Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manager for the Algorithms, Architectures & SDx organization in Morrisville, North Carolina. The candidate will lead teams of engineers in advanced research and development of signal processing, geolocation, software defined radio, embedded and high-performance computing systems, and data analytics.

It is anticipated that the split between functional and program duties will be approximately 80/20, on average.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives, and company policies
  • Employee mentoring and career development
  • Performance reviews and management
  • Compensation planning and managing department budgets
  • Ensuring adherence to standard system engineering processes
  • Systems engineering support to programs
  • Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership
  • Consulting - Proposal support
  • Operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals
  • Identify and help implement business growth opportunities at the Morrisville, NC location through collaboration with other Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sites, primarily in Baltimore, MD

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of experience, a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields.
  • U.S Citizenship with an ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD Clearance
  • Experience in People and Technical Leadership roles
  • Experience performing innovative, applied research and develop sophisticated algorithms under computational or other resource constraints
  • Experience with conventional software engineering principles, including code maintenance, coding standards, and version control
  • Experience with algorithm implementations and software development in MATLAB, C, C++, Python, and/or Objective C

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in:
    • remote sensing, including active radar imaging and/or passive electro-optic and infrared imaging systems.
    • Open source computer vision and machine learning libraries (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, and Caffe), Unix/Linux operating systems, and multi-threaded/parallel computing
    • Formulating innovative solutions to algorithm development, initiating and fostering client relationships, and executing projects in compliance with cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
    • Leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/or functional environments.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
