Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring Manufacturing Engineering Manager 1 to join our Manufacturing Engineering organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in New Town, ND.

The selected candidate will manage a team of Production Manufacturing Engineers for the creation/maintenance of the Manufacturing Bill of Materials, manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, and material handling. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for fabricating tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts equipment design to factory and production conditions. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of processes, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that apply to statistical process control and may develop those techniques. Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations and engineering specifications. Provides mentorship to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and being responsive to keep production moving.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage production manufacturing engineers in our New Town facility
  • Ensuring the team has the necessary tools and training to complete their tasks
  • Perform employee reviews
  • Be involved with RCCA activities
  • Attend CAB meetings
  • Lead high-level projects that require the skills of a leader with a wealth of Manufacturing Engineering knowledge
  • Update or create new policies and procedures
  • BOEs for proposals
  • Oversee projects that are being led by the team including continuous improvement projects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years, OR a master’s degree with 0 years, of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, which includes, but is not limited to, collaboration with Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations for manufacturing affordability & producibility, tooling, work package development for manufacturing, on-site and reach back manufacturing support, execution of engineering rotation plans.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Leadership/Lead role
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively at all levels of management and to individual contributors
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
  • Current DOD Secret Clearance or higher with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 5 years
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates
  • Experience in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Surveillance
  • Experience with Wire Harness Fabrication
  • Team Center, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution
  • System Integration and Test equipment and techniques into production lines
  • Lean Manufacturing experience

Salary Range: $94,300 USD - $141,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
