Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our Team as a U106 Electrician-General located at our Sunnyvale, CA campus.
What You’ll get to Do:
Collaboration and critical thinking to troubleshoot and determine cause of unique CNC equipment failures, malfunctions and repair, modify, install, and maintain electrical circuits, components and systems on machine tools, cranes, elevators, alarms, transformers, controls, and high voltage cables and equipment. The Machine maintenance team provides support on a variety of machine configurations including multi-axis gantries, mill turn applications, large vertical lathes, horizontal boring machines, spin forming lathes, etc.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Insulated pliers, screwdrivers, wrench hammer, etc. Electrical testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital meters, tachometers, brush recorder, VTVM, multi-meters, capacitor testers, and solid-state analyzer. Test lamp, power factor meter, KW meters, meggers, dielectric testing equipment, cable pulling equipment, battery tester, etc. Conduit bender, ladder, safety belt, glasses, padlocks, hard hat, etc.
MATERIAL:
Printed circuit boards, servo‑valves, synchro systems, speed variators, feedback amplifiers, electro‑hydraulically/pneumatic controlled automatic equipment, AC & DC servo positioners. Conduit, wire, cable, tape, light fixtures, bulbs, distilled water, etc. Various electrical replacement parts.
DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
Direct Electricians assigned to help in the installation and repair of plant electrical facilities.
WORKING PROCEDURE:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled repairs on production tools, equipment, and machines.
Work on a maintenance team alongside mechanics, operators and Engineers in a cross-functional team setting to minimize machine downtime and improve line output.
Read, interpret and follow work instructions, schematics (electrical, electronic, PLC) SOPs, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble, troubleshoot, and repair production tools, equipment, and machineries
Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Work System (CMMS) to adhere to work order scheduling, document labor reports, material/part usage, and work order completion.
Adherence to the scheduling of work through the work management program is required
Monitors spare parts inventory and conducts inventory cycle count according to CMMS schedule.
Proficient personal computer skills to include CMMS, Excel, Word and Access.
Results oriented, self-motivated, and able to work with limited direct supervision.
Complete Work Orders on all tasks performed
Read and follow National, State, and Local electrical codes, Arc Flash NFPA-70E, OSHA mandated occupational safety practices (e.g., LOTO, fall protection), and local and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Troubleshoot, trace electrical/electronic schematic circuits, and determine cause of malfunction or failure on AC/DC motors, VFD, power supplies, control systems, motor generators, master clock system, fire alarm systems, and repair, modify or replace components to restore to proper operation.
Test high voltage cable and equipment to analyze condition and expected life. Disassemble and disconnect equipment to obtain faulty or malfunctioning circuits, components or units and repair or replace defects.
Fabricate, wire, connect, and test special test equipment and aids to accomplish operations.
Perform preventive maintenance such as removing dirt from connections and windings, tighten connections, retaping and insulating connections, etc.
Basic Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
A minimum of 2 years electrical, technical experience or related degree and/or completion of electrical apprenticeship or Military technical "A" / "C" Schools.
A minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrical maintenance technician or field service engineer.
U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical maintenance technician or field service engineer.
Experience with CNC Machine Troubleshooting and Repair.
Experience with Ladder logic, networking and CNC machines.
Experience using CMMS in a manufacturing or production environment.
Current or previous experience with job prioritization, planning, communication, and documentation.
Experience using in Microsoft Office Excel.
