Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Defense Systems wants you to join our Team as a P-8 SCA Aircraft Mechanic 3 - Lead. These positions are located Lake Charles, LA.
The Navy P8-A is based on the Boeing 737- 800 platform. The P-8 operates in anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) roles. This is a maintenance and sustainment program performing depot level operations.
**These positions are Service Contract Act positions.
**These positions will be hired for multiple shifts.
***This program is contingent on contract award and has an anticipated start date of 4th Quarter 2024.
SCA Mechanic 3 Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
Removing major components from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective parts and reassembles/installs
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
Entering description of the work performed and verifying the work was performed satisfactorily
Service engines and airframe components
Maintain schedules and quality standards
This position provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians
Lead Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist operations manager to ensure O&A and basic job assignments meet the daily goals
Assist operations manager in clarifying data for the development weekly variance analysis for both basic and O&A tasks
Remove constraints throughout the day
Elevate shop floor issues relating to quality/cost/schedule to the operations manager for both basic and O&A tasks
Create daily work plans, turnovers, etc.
Conduct training of mechanics as required
Support safety and quality initiatives
Support internal and external audits
Monitoring compliance and address questions and concerns related to work instructions, processes and procedures
Providing feedback to the operations manager regarding team engagement, dynamics and performance
Assist in preparing, developing and coordinating the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to meet all program objectives
Create production work order documentation for release to the shop floor
Work with materials planning to determine and schedule materials needed to cover production demand
Coordinate with operations manager to determine staffing requirements for production operations to meet schedule demands
Monitor jobs to ensure they will be completed on schedule
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Materials Purchasing and other staff
Basic Qualifications:
A High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
Minimum of 10 years related experience in planning or support role.
Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and tag writing
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Power Point)
Experience with public speaking
Flexible & willing to work various shifts, to include weekends to support the mission as needed
Good written and verbal communication skills
U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain a security clearance if required by the Program.
Preferred Qualifications:
FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate
Experience in a lead/supervisor role
Experience with Team Center programs
Experience with MyBoeingFleet
Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience and Schedule Management
Experience and involvement with production or materials planning.
Familiar with process development and implementation
