Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Manager of Business Development 2 to support our Advanced Weapons business in Northridge, CA

Relocation assistance, while not guaranteed, may be available for those who are willing and able to work in Northridge, CA only.

This position will require the selected candidate to work in the DC Metro Area (McLean, VA; Falls Church, VA) or Northridge, CA

Job Summary

This position will report to the Advanced Weapons Business Development Director and will perform the duties of Business Development Lead for various opportunities.  The Business Development lead will work closely with the Advanced Weapons BD Director, Strategy Director, the Advanced Programs Operations Unit Director, and various Program Managers and lead engineers to provide the company with new business development briefings. Travel will be up to 25%, and may include international travel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the Advanced Programs (AP) operating unit and Program teams to develop customer relationships with existing and new customers, including senior company and government agency leaders to ensure products and company are well known and respected.

  • Support capture managers on various pursuits; lead customer relationship development (US Government customer) to understand need, budget, timelines, and competitor capability.

  • Assemble and execute new AP business strategies in line with the current business overarching strategy.

  • Make strategic adjustments to the AP Business Development Plans as necessary to adapt to product updates and evolving customer’s interest.

  • Provide inputs to internal M&S, B&P and IRAD resource allocation decisions based on knowledge of future customer needs.

  • Support Proposal Preparation, Review and Approval Process.

  • Develop and Perform to a Strategic Plan including multi-year sales and marketing strategic plans that identify key products and markets that will enable the company to achieve its goals of growth and profitability.

  • Create, update, and maintain SalesForce records to support new business opportunity pursuits, and gate reviews.

  • Build and execute marketing and communications plans to support the specific opportunities.

  • Regularly report to the company’s Management Team the status of all major Advanced Programs opportunities assigned, and the status toward achieving the awards plan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Ten (10) years of experience in capture management, business development, project/business/program management or engineering

  • 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role

  • Must have a current and active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain expertise in tactical missile programs

  • Understand the DoD & intelligence budgets and marketplace

  • Working knowledge of U.S. Government procurement policies and regulations

  • Program management, hardware and/or software engineering skills

  • Active TS clearance

  • SAP clearance eligibility


Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
