The Financial Planning and Analysis group is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to perform high level, detailed analysis of financial reports for internal senior leadership.  The candidate will be required to work in a team environment as well as independently to analyze data, generate financial reports, resolve problems, and provide guidance, and analysis in a time sensitive environment.

Job Summary

Provide Finance support to all discretionary expenditures including Bid & Proposal, Internal Research and Development, and Selling (develop monthly cost forecasts; and provide weekly/monthly cost analysis and reporting to the program managers & business development teams):

  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and schedules for all discretionary expenditures and perform and/or assist in financial analysis such as funding profiles, cost outlook, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze actual cost details to ensure proper charging. 
  • Help develop forecasts of future costs based on historical actuals, program status and management plans. 
  • Apply independent judgment and critical thinking to evaluate historical cost and future estimates. 
  • Interface and coordinate project status from a variety of professional functions:  Business Development, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, etc., and with various levels within the organization.
  • Prepare and post monthly, year-end and ad hoc journal entries.
  • Investigate deviations from plan and unusual results.
  • Additionally the position supports the following areas:
    • Preparation of monthly operational review packages.
    • Quarterly and annual external filing requirements.
    • Quarterly program EAC reviews
    • Weekly cash management reports and analysis
    • Department Sarbanes Oxley compliance
    • Perform special finance/accounting projects as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have high school Diploma with 10 years of related experience. Will consider:
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business and 6 years’ experience. Or Masters degree with 4 years of experience.  
  • Advanced Excel/Presentation skills. 
  • Must have the ability to work on-site in Northridge, CA (Hybrid remote)
  • Ability to translate, present, and communicate complicated financial information into understandable and executable strategic plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive background in Finance and Cash Management.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint, and Cognos
  • Ability to work with individuals in other geographic locations.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent communication skills, strategically focused, detail oriented, and have ability to effortlessly multi-task in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
