Manufacturing Engineering Manager 1 to join our Manufacturing Engineering organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and field missile products, support equipment, and missile warning systems. This position will be located in Northridge, CA.
The selected candidate will manage a team of Production Manufacturing Engineers for the creation/maintenance of the Manufacturing Bill of Materials, manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, and material handling. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for fabricating tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts equipment design to factory and production conditions. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of processes, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that apply to statistical process control and may develop those techniques. Ensures processes and procedures comply with regulations and engineering specifications. Provides mentorship to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. You will also drive the team to support the production floor in a liaison role. These activities include answering assist calls from technicians, processing MRB tags, performing root cause corrective action, and being responsive to keep production moving.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage production manufacturing engineers both in our Northridge and Ridgecrest facilities

  • Ensuring the team has the necessary tools and training to complete their tasks

  • Perform employee reviews

  • Be involved with RCCA activities

  • Attend CAB meetings

  • Lead high-level projects that require the skills of a leader with a wealth of Manufacturing Engineering knowledge

  • Support programs transitioning from EMD into LRIP by positioning the right talent on tasks to support the mission

  • Update or create new policies and procedures

  • BOEs for proposals

  • Oversee projects that are being led by the team. This includes CapEx and continuous improvement projects.

Basic Qualifications:

B.S + 6 yr experience

M.S + 4 yr experience

*Must have an Active Security Clearance

Previous experience as a lead or supervisor


Salary Range: $98,800 USD - $148,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
