Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Test Engineer, Electronics to join our System Integration Test & Evaluation (SIT&E) system test team of qualified, diverse individuals.  Currently, we are looking for Principal System Test Engineers in Defense Management, Flight Controls, System Control, and Weapons. All positions will require the same basic qualifications, but different preferred skills for each section.  The SIT&E Team is responsible for completing verification of system level hardware and software capabilities developed and integrated for a classified program. These positions will be located in Oklahoma City, OK. 

As an electronics test engineer you’ll be responsible for level III system verification efforts.  You’ll utilize your understanding of system test to create test procedures based on Level III requirements, develop an expert understanding of your assigned subsystem, and utilize test infrastructure to dry run and execute system level verification. 

A Laboratory System Test Engineer synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints.  The engineer develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for completing systems. 

This position may require occasional shift work and overtime.  Hours may have to shift from time to time as lab availability changes and flexibility in working hours is a must.  Additionally, the nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working full time in a classified development environment; cell phones or personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.  All work must be performed at the facility.  No work-from-home arrangements are available.

Basic qualifications for all departments:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM discipline from an accredited university with (5) years of industry experience; or (3) years of industry experience w/Master’s degree in the STEM; OR a PhD with 0 years of experience.
  • Current active DOD Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
  • Experience in providing technical support to test programs (including aircraft OFP updates and laboratory instrumentation sets) from planning phase to post-test review and closeout phase
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 communication protocol

Flight Controls System Test Engineer: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in flight data analysis including performance data
  • At least 3 years of experience in test and evaluation
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology
  • Experience in/with OKC System Test group
  • Experience with flight test activities (including MCR support)
  • Experience with iron bird testing and operation
  • Experience as pilot (personal or work related)

Defensive Management System Test Engineer: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology
  • Experience in/with OKC System Test group
  • Experience with digital signal processing
  • Experience running RF lab test equipment, including signal generators, Spectrum Analyzers, PNAs and oscilloscopes.
  • Previous experience with radar waveforms, Electronic Support (ES), and/or Electronic Warfare (EW) subsystems.
  • Experience working with Linux and/or Unix operating systems and applications.
  • Experience with MATLAB, AFSIM, SDK or equivalent software tools
  • Basic Software development skills working with Macros, C/C++ for simple applications, scripting languages such as Python, Perl or other shell scripts.

Weapons System Test Engineer: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology
  • Experience in/with OKC System Test group
  • Experience working with weapons and payload systems
  • Experience working with radar systems
  • Knowledge of governing standards to include MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760

Communications System Test Engineer: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Current and active Top Secret Clearance
  • Current and active Program Access
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology
  • Experience in/with OKC System Test group
  • Experience with Link-16 & MIL-STD-6016
  • Experience with HF/UHF/VHF Communications
  • 2+ years of experience in test and evaluation
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology

System Control System Test Engineer: (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Current and active Top Secret Clearance
  • Knowledgeable in Air Force life cycle sustainment processes
  • Knowledgeable in IFC development processes
  • Knowledgeable in Agile SW development methodology
  • Experience in/with OKC System Test group
  • Experience in System Timing of Complex Systems
  • Experience with Link-16, MIL-STD-1553 & MIL-STD-6016


Salary Range: $83,000 USD - $124,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
